Maurice den Boer was born in Schiedam (the Netherlands), in 1975. He graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 1999. 

The majority of his work consists of figurative sculptures. All of this work is autonomous but clearly with the same ‘signature’. His latest collection AVIATOREN © is a very successful and characteristic example of Maurice‘ sculptures. All the sculptures in this collection are unique pieces. His bronze sculptures are sold via art galleries, art fairs and at the studio.

As a sculptor he is well known for his delicate and detailled bronze sculptures. He learned to work with this material and casted his first bronze during his academic study.  This made him very enthusiastic and determined to continue with this matter. Maurice perfected his skills in bronze casting during his year of apprenticeship with a bronze foundry that casts and finishes exclusively for sculptors. Bronze remains his medium of choice, but other materials like ice, wood and metal are used in the past as well.

Maurice is also chairman of the board at the sCULpTUUR foundation. This organisation owns and operates its own bronze casting facilities and makes it possible for professional artists to cast their sculptures and provides professional artists with information and advice.
